The English 201 class has taught me a lot about technical writing and technical documents that I could incorporate in my other classes. The information that is taught in this class has been extremely important and beneficial to me because technical documents can be found in everyday life, and knowing how to read them is critical. For instance, if one knows how to read a billing statement you can always point out some over charge error. After I knew how important it is to read a technical document such as a billing statement, I went home and read my Comcast bill carefully and it turns out Comcast has been charging me for service I never ordered. So, I called them and have them remove it from my billing statement. I really think this technical class opens your eyes in little things which can be very important. An other thing I found very beneficial from this class is that I have learned how to write a résumé and cover letter which I never give much thought before.

The inevitable!
In high school and college we have guidance counselors, course requirements and teachers. But the minute we about to graduate, it seems we are immediately expected to understand where to go, what to do, and how to get wherever we’re going next. I’m not even done with school, yet I’m already getting a life lesson from my parents, telling me I need to start applying for Grad school or get a job. What the hell. I feel like running away again; like I did after high school!
I don’t really know where I’m going next, but since I already took five years off by serving in the military since graduating from high school, I guess I really need to get a job huh! Any who, I’d like to work at my dad law firm in Florida. My job title would be paralegal. And since I have some experience in the Intellectual Property Litigation department, as I helped out in the office many times before.
I will apply for the job because I have a strong educational background and several summer internships at the office which I feel uniquely qualify me for this job opportunity. I am currently certified as a paralegal and am completing my degree in criminal Justice in January.
My education and professional background has provided me extensive organizational and managerial experience. For instance, in my two year tour of duty in Iraq I helped to establish the Baghdad Police College after the fall of Sadam Hussein. I was closely involved in drafting legal documents and procedures on hiring Iraqis police recruits.
While I’m not too enthusiastic about going to work right after college, I have no doubt I will be a great asset to the office.

Woolley's cough syrups!
For the Instruction manual project, I will write an instruction on what some society consider to be “taboo”. I will write instruction on how to make a homemade cough syrup. Depending on your culture, religion and beliefs many strange and bizarre things are completely normal to some people and even animals throughout the world. Taboos are what people find to be strange and unusual practices or what unique things people may do or eat in different parts of the world. Different cultures would consider strange things to eat as a delicacy in some areas or cultures and wouldn’t even dream of being eaten in other cultures. Sometimes they could even be forbidden or illegal by certain beliefs.
Making a homemade cough syrup is unheard of in the American society because people would rather trust a stranger in a hospital telling them how to take care of themselves than having them taking action of their own health. No wonder why the healthcare system in America cost more money than any other country in the world. In any case, my homemade cough syrup is not to be used in lieu of a cough prescription drug. The instruction will be a very four easy steps to follow.

The Flyer
A flyer is a form of advertisement; it allows people to identify some of the key element of a particular program or interest of subject in a short space. Making a flyer requires some in-depth investigation onto what is the most important and who the flyer needs to target. I have never make a flyer before so needless to say it was rather a challenge making my class project! But I had fun doing it nonetheless!
Like any type of advertisement a flyer has different effects on consumers, it changes their prospective on what is, and what is not, worth buying, what they buy and when they buy it. When advertisers plan their strategies for the sale of a certain product, they look at who would use the item and if this type of advertisement would serve its purpose. If the product was make-up, the type of person that would use it would most likely be a woman, around the age of thirteen and up.
The advertisers would then find an ideal looking woman to model for ads to show the makeup on a person and try to get women to use it. The way that the advertisers describe the model will also get your attention; they might say that she is not really beautiful until she puts on the makeup, or something along those lines. Like when Bridgewater State University writes the slogan “Expect More Achieve More” That slogan would grab any parents’ attention. That is what Advertisers do and I hope my flyer serves its purpose and that is to give as much information to prospective students about the school just in one double sided page.

A flyer allows people to identify some of the key element of a particular program or interest of subject in a short space. Making a flyer requires some in-depth investigation onto what is the most important and who the flyer needs to target. I have never make one before so I guess it would be interesting to see how I can make one in less than three days! Any who, for my flyer I will use the School websites (www.bridgew.edu) since it is the easiest way to collect as much information as I need for the flyer.

Week 1 ENG 201
I started school again after a barely two week s vacation. I’m taking summer school for the first time in my three year college career. It looks like it’s going to be a very intents semester because unlike other semesters that have three of four months summer semester is only a month long which mean doing something that would normally take you three or four months to do in as little as five weeks.
Because of the intensity of the scheduling and class work I’m only taken two classes: English 201, and a Math class. My English class is rather interesting this week we tackle to numerous things but the one that really grabbed my attention is the effect of designing documents and web sites of a company. Come on now, we all know that web sites or a company document is the company image but there is a lot more to a document or a web sites than pretty fonts and pictures. Everything is to be fit. I was surprised to see mistakes several big companies like HP makes on its laptop manual. Their manual is boring and clearly poorly managed. They have no 3D picture let alone real pictures on a computer manual. That says a lot about the company; they are lazy, and don’t care much about their consumers. I agree with Professor Williams when she said “HP could have done a better job by taken away those black and white graphics and adding real pictures”
Overall this week has been a great week. I like the way the class was conducted (in a horseshoe type of meeting) which give everyone in the class a chance to see each other as we address a particular subject.
