The inevitable!

In high school and college we have guidance counselors, course requirements and teachers. But the minute we about to graduate, it seems we are immediately expected to understand where to go, what to do, and how to get wherever we’re going next. I’m not even done with school, yet I’m already getting a life lesson from my parents, telling me I need to start applying for Grad school or get a job.  What the hell. I feel like running away again; like I did after high school!

I don’t really know where I’m going next, but since I already took five years off by serving in the military since graduating from high school, I guess I really need to get a job huh!  Any who, I’d like to work at my dad law firm in Florida. My job title would be paralegal. And since I have some experience in the Intellectual Property Litigation department, as I helped out in the office many times before.

I will apply for the job because I have a strong educational background and several summer internships at the office which I feel uniquely qualify me for this job opportunity. I am currently certified as a paralegal and am completing my degree in criminal Justice in January.

My education and professional background has provided me extensive organizational and managerial experience. For instance, in my two year tour of duty in Iraq I helped to establish the Baghdad Police College after the fall of Sadam Hussein. I was closely involved in drafting legal documents and procedures on hiring Iraqis police recruits.

While I’m not too enthusiastic about going to work right after college, I have no doubt I will be a great asset to the office.
